New software to learn and lessons to plan

I visited 3 cool websites today that I want to share.
The first is the Savvy Intern’s post on what new software you should know. Obviously I am not an intern, but I found the article well written and a friendly reminder that I need to keep my skills updated.
The second website was the blog – The Blooming Palette. It is filled with cool lesson plans and nice wayst to pitch them to your students. I like how she goes into depth and introduces some of the conceptual things we need to think about when making an artwork.
Last is Randleman High School’s website and a very cool lesson on resist watercolor painting using rubber cement. Now if only I had gallons of the stuff I would do that too!

Blogs vs. Wikis — fermentation

OK so I am being random today. It’s Thanksgiving and I am thankful for my wonderful family and all the great resources that are out there. I have been thinking about having a seperate art teacher website for myself because I am co-mingiling too many posts. Like my audience is confused if you know what I mean. I know I need to use my school website some more, but School Center can be so limiting (like the 10 mb video size) and so boring looking. Did I say aestheticaly unappealing?!?

But I digress. I joined wikispaces a while back, but never made some pages. So I literally threw up some content to see what would stick. Here is a page that features some of my lesson plans. The reason I was thinking about doing this was because my C: drive was completely wiped of lesson plans, without warning last year. I was extremely irked, but got over it, and have moved on. My wonderful IT person at school restored some of the files, but others were corrupt beyond repair. 🙁

So what’s up with the title? I am trying to decide if I should have a blog or a wiki. I tried the wiki, but I don’t know if I like it…… I just love wordpress so I am thinking I should try edublog and later delete my wiki. Sigh… decisions, decisions…

Oh, oh, oh and I found this amazing Smart Board Blog. This is a link to her art category.
