Tutors Needed

The BCLP needs you! Volunteer to help someone improve his or her reading, writing, or math skills. You do not need teaching experience to help someone learn to read; all you need is commitment and a high school diploma or GED. Our staff will provide the training, materials, and other support you need.

What is it like to tutor someone one-on-one? Most volunteers find it an extremely rewarding experience. It provides the opportunity to share the excitement and fulfillment of helping someone read for the first time, and gives tutors a greater understanding of people. Tutors are asked to commit one-and-a-half to three hours per week with their students. Tutors prepare their own creative lessons and can chart their progress by regularly submitting reports to the program.
